Hot Basalt Stones

Like the ancient healers of Hawaii, many of our practitioners use Hot Thermal Stones during their treatments. The heated basalt stones are used to assist the client in reaching a state of deep relaxation and are also used by the practitioner as remedial tools and vibratory tools. They may be used for placement on a single/ specific body part or they may be used in the practitioners hands whilst massaging. Our aim is to keep the flow and rhythm of the Ka Huna treatment intact whilst incorporating the healing effects of the stones.

Vacuum Cupping

Although not of the Hawaiian tradition, the use of Vacuum Massage cups does have origins in Ancient China, the Roman empire and even Ancient Arabia and Russia. At Sydney Ka Huna our practitioners use a modern adaptation of the cup massage therapy that dates back thousands of years. We apply the cups within our Ka Huna treatment with the aim of keeping the rhythm and flow that is a signature of Hawaiian massage.

If you think of massage in terms of positive pressure (pressing on body tissues) and Vacuum cupping as negative pressure, we use vacuum cupping as a method of drawing body tissues outward from the body to stimulate them in a reverse way. The suction works to release rigid soft tissues and muscles and can be used on almost all areas of the body – back, chest, limbs and even the face and neck.
