When was the last time you went to a festival and woke up feeling amazing the next day? That’s what Divine Circus is all about. Imagine joining the Cirque du Soleil for a night. You are surrounded by music and colour; movement and song but instead of rehearsed precision and staid performance, you are free to play.

Upon entry to the ‘big tent’, you will be welcomed with a crystal bowl sound healing session, followed by a dance journey, drumming experience and spontaneous kirtan (free-style chanting) in a wild, celebratory musical performance by Alana Fairchild, Dan Preston, Barry Zworestine, Campbell Wilson and Dale Nougher. The evening will conclude with an uplifting set by DJ Mark Kundalini.

The audience is free to observe or participate. There will be plenty of room for people to sit down and enjoy the show or, alternatively, get up and move in any which way they desire.

Divine Circus is the brainchild of Natalie Southgate from Chakradance and Alana Fairchild from The Shakti Temple. The pair, who has been working as music and dance therapists for the past ten years, decided to create an entirely new festival experience.

Alana says, “Rather than a formal healing setting, we wanted to create something dedicated purely to fun and creative expression. Divine Circus is like a cross between a sacred healing space and a nightclub. It will provide a unique opportunity to release stress, gain energy and express yourself in an environment without judgement.”

The May 22nd ‘Gaia’ event is the first in a series of events to be held at the Paddington Uniting Church. Upcoming events include ‘Shakti’ on July 17th, ‘FireDrum’ on September 25th and ‘Breathing Light’ on December 18th.

About Alana Fairchild

About Natalie Southgate

Berries + Bok Choi

= The Health Smoothie!

We’re all for healthy colon’s over here at Sydney Ka Huna, and after many months of experimentation we think we’ve come up with the perfect internal cleanse!

Ingredients:
Bok Choi (1 bunch)
Handful of Berries (any kind)
Water (about a cup)
Any other greens you like (English Spinach works well but wash beforehand!)

Combine all ingredients in a blender (you may need to add more water if its a bit too chunky) and SCULL, SCULL, SCULL! Actually…this is quite a tasty drink, and for those who’ve tried it, they say it takes about 20 minutes for everything to spring into action and start “moving”…

5000 years from now, the world is a very different place

Forget the Time Travellers Wife or even Back to the Future, this is a TRUE time travelling book. Introducing Dr. (that’s right, Doctor) Hank Wesselman – a true sceptic of the “spirit world” who all of a sudden finds himself “becoming” a Hawaiian Kahuna named Nainoa, 5000 years from now. Needless to say, his world views are thrown upside-down.

Now, you might throw a bag full of scepticism at this, but you really have to check this book out. In the same way that Conversations with God presents the question “How would an author know all of that?”, this book presents far too many insights into the world for it not to be taken at least a little bit seriously.

He is a bossy delight and we happily all revolve around his needs and desires.  Frankly he is spoilt and will probably always be. Yet we are more than blessed to have him.

My friend and her husband tried for 7 years to get pregnant – five IVF’s, so many disappointments and no pregnancies.  I was visiting my friends in Ireland after their 4th IVF heartbreak and spent much of my holiday there massaging my friends abdomen.

As a therapist for many years I could immediately feel the blockages and the lack of space – there was no room for anything to grow.  I set about making space,  re-orbiting organs to their correct location and moving fluid and energy. Soon after I left Ireland, my friend became pregnant for the first time ever with her 5th round of IVF. Sadly she lost this foetus at 10 weeks – however on the plus side she now knew her body could become pregnant!

Before I arrived at the Heartworks Lomi Lomi course I was both physically and emotionally depleted. I was grieving for two dear friends who have less than a year to live. As a way to desperately avoid my grief and as a coping mechanism, I had put on a mask and got busier and busier at work and neglected my own needs. From an intellectual level, I could see what I had done and how ridiculous it was. My heart however was shattered so I closed my heart and held my loved ones at arms length … I couldn’t bare the thought of any more loss.

When I was greeted by the beautiful Bec and Cate, I knew that I was in for a life changing weekend. Whilst giving and receiving Lomi , and giving and receiving laughs and support from new friends, my heart opened more than I think that it ever has. I found a smile on my face as I went about my day and now, weeks after I still do. My relationships with friends and family have changed so much and we are connecting on a much deeper level. Most importantly, I have learnt to receive as well as give.

I gave my 94 year old Grandmother a Lomi Lomi on my return and it was one of the most beautiful experiences of my life. She cried, I cried but we both had a smile on our faces the same time! After the massage, I shared with her how I now had a sense of purpose … To ease other’s burdens when they are going through turmoil. The gift of heart felt touch can lift the heaviest cloud. With that in mind, I have decided to pay it forward. In the next few weeks, I have committed to giving Lomi Lomi Heartworks massages to thirteen people who need to reconnect with their heart as I did. Some have cancer, one has motor neurone disease, two have just divorced from their partners and others are selfless caregivers. Lomi Lomi returned sunshine into my life and I hope that my gift of Lomi Lomi will do that for them. In turn, so many doors, opportunities and arms have opened up to me since my heart has opened and it all started with the healing power of touch.
